Our Process

Choosing a memorial is often an emotional process for families. Heritage Monuments has supportive consultants to help families through this process. The first step in this process is to meet with a memorial specialist. Together you will discuss the many options that are available to you and decide what is important to you. The design stage is where you want to tell your story or your loved ones’. You can visit our Contact Us page to request an appointment or give our office a call at 717-872-1750.

Our monument consultant will walk you through each step and be there to answer any questions or concerns to ensure that you are completely satisfied.

Now it is time to choose what kind of monument that appeals to you. There are upright, slanted or flat memorials. Click Our Products to see some examples and other services that we offer.

After you have settled on the design of the monument, our monument specialist will send the order in. Our vender will review then send a proof of the design or engraving to us. Once the proof is carefully reviewed by the family and approved, the stone will go into production. From this point it will take approximately 8 – 12 months before the final step where your monument and base will get carefully set on the pre-installed foundation.

Know Before You Buy

Purchasing a memorial is something that most of us have never done or have to do. An online search can be confusing and information can be hard to find causing frustration or making a hasty purchase that you might regret later.

As a memorial customer you have the right to…

    • Have a knowledgeable and experienced consultant who listens to your needs or wishes.
    • Receive an honest estimate and timeframe needed to complete the entire process resulting in the installation of your memorial at the cemetery.
    • To speak to a specialist who is familiar with the area’s cemeteries and their requirements. It may be a good idea to have your cemetery information available to give to the specialist so that they can guide you through any requirements that the cemetery you have chosen has. Some cemeteries may not allow certain types of memorials.
    • Be provided with a proof of your memorial so that you can check for mistakes or make corrections.
    • It generally takes 12-16 weeks for the process to be completed once your monument has been ordered but could take longer depending on the country of origin for the granite. Be mindful that the season or weather could delay the installation of your memorial.
    • Make sure if you need a memorial in another language your memorial company can provide that to you.
    • A concrete foundation should be placed under monuments in order to prevent them from sinking into the ground. Sometimes foundations can will only be installed in the spring/summer months due to the cold hard ground in winter.
